I'm James Pedersen, 21, studying BA 1 Classical Piano at the HEMU in Lausanne.
I previously studied at the CRD in Tarbes with Marie-Laure Foray, then at the CRR in Toulouse with Thierry Huillet. I obtained my DEMs in Piano, Piano Accompaniment and Chamber Music in 2023, all with honours (+ congratulations from the jury for Chamber Music).
I also won the special Liszt prize at the IDF 2022 competition in the Excellence category, 1st prize at the Concours Musical de France in 2015 (Virtuosity III category), and the Jeanne Vidal prize at the CRR in Toulouse.
I'm a sociable, dynamic person, but I'm always willing to listen, and I'm also very patient and caring. My other passions are mathematics and travelling.
I also do a lot of piano accompaniment and sight-reading, so I have a good sense of repetition and a good ear for music.
I would be delighted to share my talent and knowledge with anyone who is motivated to learn to play a magnificent instrument.

I'd like to welcome everyone who wants to learn to play music. If you've chosen to play the piano, you're looking at a marvellous instrument that can do everything, is highly versatile and, above all, has a wide range of styles. The piano will teach you coordination between the two hands, as well as careful harmonic listening and unrivalled sensitivity. Last but not least, there's hardly any more flexibility and relaxation than playing the piano.
Nevertheless, you should always bear in mind that music, and the piano in particular, is demanding and requires regular work. So make sure you have access to a piano (even an electric one) on a regular basis, and that you have the time to devote to it for at least 1-3 hours (depending on your level).
